Having new set of eyes

I just finished taking the fashion photography classes of Raymund Isaac, the known “High Priest of Philippine Fashion Photography”, and I must say, it was a blast! I mean, every peso I paid was all worth it, or maybe he gave us too much! Aha!

I was able to learn the real way of how to do things. I used to rely more on Photoshop, but after the workshop, it seems that I will be taking a more “organic” way on shooting. Thank you Raymund for showing us the way!

Well, I had some good model shots from the workshop, but I was not able to secure model consents, so I think I’ll be posting my classmates photos in exchange of that thought. :) Err, I would also want to post his photo, but I think he’ll kill me if I do. To my dear classmates, please don’t sue me. Ahaha! :D

Terri Bivins | Define Ethereal

Terri Bivins

Well, here’s Terri Bivins. She is one model you cannot miss. Just by the way she looks and stands, there is no doubt that you will not see her as a model. She’s only been modelling since, 14 years old. Right now, she’s around 20-something so there. Posing for her is like breathing and yawning. Ha!

Well, she was not my model. This was the shoot of another photog from the first Lighthouse Studio workshop by Niccolo Cosme. And yes, being the echussera (?) person that I am, I took some shots. :) )

By the way, the excellent hair and make-up done by Robert Caindoc of iModels Casting Agency.

Here are other photos of her:

Found new light with David Hobby

Well, for photographers, lighting is almost everything. If I have to rate how important it is, it will rank 10 because it will determine how sharp or light a picture can be. Whatever effect you want to achieve, proper lighting always is your most powerful tool.

Photography is indeed a very expensive hobby/profession. The cameras could cost 30,000php at the least for brand new units. Lens can range from 2,500 php to 500,000. And when we talk about lighting, external flashes can cost from 14,000 php at minimum price.

Well, here comes David Hobby, the original Strobist (and the term was even invented for him I believe). He sheds new light on how to use common things to produce a well-lit photo. I must be a caveman not to really know him before I was able to read his profile at this month’s Digital Photographer Philippines.

I must say, you will be seeing more of me browsing his work and learning his craft. :)

Torn in between

Anyone who wants to become a master must choose just one thing in which to become expert. All else is mere can’t.

This hit me like… gaaah!

As evident here in my blog (or any online account that I have), I am in love with two mistresses– graphic design and photography.

I would love to be known one day in the field of art, but at this point, I am really torn between the two. Though I am not yet that great in both fields, I would want to harness my skills on both arts. Sadly, as the quote says, a person can only focus on one, loving two is futile.
