A Perfect Sunset
At last! A sunset pic for us. We were trying to have one before back at Batangas but we missed it. This time, we reallt waited and did not sleep. And thanks also to dear God, who parted the dark clouds lingering moments before this shot was taken.
This, for me, is a perfect sunset–fitting a perfect day with Jacque.
Found new light with David Hobby
Well, for photographers, lighting is almost everything. If I have to rate how important it is, it will rank 10 because it will determine how sharp or light a picture can be. Whatever effect you want to achieve, proper lighting always is your most powerful tool.
Photography is indeed a very expensive hobby/profession. The cameras could cost 30,000php at the least for brand new units. Lens can range from 2,500 php to 500,000. And when we talk about lighting, external flashes can cost from 14,000 php at minimum price.
Well, here comes David Hobby, the original Strobist (and the term was even invented for him I believe). He sheds new light on how to use common things to produce a well-lit photo. I must be a caveman not to really know him before I was able to read his profile at this month’s Digital Photographer Philippines.
I must say, you will be seeing more of me browsing his work and learning his craft.
Thomas Beck’s take on Dustin’s “A Year Older”

Thomas Beck's Me and I
Who wouldn’t be happy when someone comes up to you and said he was inspired with your work? Right? I mean, I’m not a known photographer (yet, just wait and see), but to have a comment like Thomas Beck’s, it makes you work hard on your craft.
You can see his work on his page here.
Thank you Thomas Beck (of Switzerland).
Here’s my own work:
Jay Ar Igno | Original Sin
It has always been man’s sin. It has always been man’s weakness.
Man’s strength nullified.
—
It is not an apple. It was never an apple.
Whoever said it was an apple?
Apple? Why apple?
—
Here’s Jay Ar Igno, this time portraying man’s downfall. According to the Good Book, it was the woman who tempted man to taste the insatiable Fruit of Knowledge and Wisdom, but why didn’t he resist? Because it has always been his flaw.

I think this is Jacque’s shot, and my post process.
Janus and Dan | This is just the Beginning…

At last, I am now allowed to publish these.
Dan Dela Cruz and Janus Kilala are co-workers in TeleTech and they entrusted me to take the shots of the most memorable time of their young lives: marriage.
Yes, they tied the knot last July (a very laaaaate post indeed), and are now happily enjoying their married life together (although they have been living with each other for the past three years along with Janus’ parents).
Here are some pre-nup pics (picked my faves haha!). Wedding pics are next in line!

The Suede Mafia
I recently had the chance of having subjects for a “theme” that I wanted to make. I wanted to shoot a Mafia-style theme, but not just headshots though, but scenes just like in movies. Didn’t have time though, and models, but this set , I think, is the first step.
Btw, the inspiration came from playing Mafia Wars, a game I’m am currently addicted to at Facebook. :s
And oh, the models I have here are my Operation Supervisors and my Operation Manager (David Conche). Well, they really didn’t model for me, they just asked me to shoot them. I just edited this as I wanted it. Haha. So, not counted as a real photoshoot by me eh? Haha.
Next time will be a real photo shoot, hopefully a collab with my master/mentor Keo Saulog, who is a real addict on Mafia Wars.
Jay R Igno | Water runs Deep
This was just an impromptu “shoot”. I mean, we were just swimming in this very beautiful and relaxing spring and then this idea came up like Koko Crunch! Haha!
Good thing Jay Ar Igno here, Jacque’s bestfriend was in the mood to pose.
Used my old but trusty cam, Sony H7.
Tie a Yellow Ribbon…
We just lost another freedom fighter and I think she is the last genuine hero(ine) that we have. Where do we go now? I feel kind of hopeless.
I am lucky that I am still part of the generation that knew her, well, at least when she was the president. Though she was not a perfect president, still she was a good president, unlike…*eherm, cut statement here*
Anyway, I roamed Makati and some of Quezon City today because of other purposes and good thing I brought my trusty Xander (Sony H7). I was able to take some pictures of how we love Cory Aquino.

As I have said in my Facebook account, this yellow ribbon is not just a fad, but it serves as a reminder of our history. It is an icon of how hope was given to us in the darkest of hours.

We will always remember you.
